Spis & Støt 2016 at Köd Aarhus
For the Spis & Støt 2016 event, we bought tickets to Köd Aarhus after falling in love with the menu they were serving. Carpaccio, steak with bearnaise and cheesecake – classic favourites that are always sure to go down a treat! And at only 250,- per head it didn’t take much convincing…
We had booked a table with the second shift at 8, so the restaurant was already in full swing when we arrived. Waiters were walking briskly past us from both directions, as we were led to be seated at our table. The music was a bit loud, but it probably had a lot to do with the speakers right above our heads. I really like the modern wholesomeness of the décor – it radiates an appreciation for simplicity, with extra attention to quality.
For the starter, we had carpaccio of danish tenderloin with Vesterhavs cheese, rucola, pickled onions and cracked black pepper & crunchy croutons. It was d e l i c i o u s . I honestly couldn’t get enough of it – the cheese and croutons added the perfect amount of salty crunchiness, and the pickled onions and rucola balanced it all to a tee. And the dressing…. OMG. Excellent start. The waitress recommended the Syrah Reserva 2011 from Vina Echeverria in the Maipo Valley, Chile – it was perfect with the carpaccio and the rib-eye that is coming up next.
For the main course, 300g dry-aged rib-eye from Uruguay served with chili fries and a rich, thick, homemade bearnaise sauce. Also excellent!
And for dessert, a homemade cheesecake with a blackberry coulis and crunchy bites. It was light and delicious, and an elegant finish after such a rich main course.
The white russian was too sweet for my taste.
Overall, an excellent menu with the highlight definately being the carpaccio! Its not my first time visiting Köd, and it won’t be my last!
